A journey into Arab-Islamic culture, through history, current affairs, art, traditions and curiosities. A story to know, understand and build connections.
Several years ago I began telling the story of the Arab-Islamic world in all its complexity through this page. A weekly appointment born from an ambitious idea: exploring stories, cultures and traditions without sensationalism, without preconceived labels and without stopping at appearances.
Week after week, thanks to everyone who read, commented, shared, criticized and took part in the discussion, Rawābit/Connections has become a web of stories and insights, collected in the column available on this website.
From that journey Rawābit/Connections - روابط - the Podcast was born: the column found its voice and the written words became a story to listen to.
I wanted to give continuity to this project through my own voice, keeping the same desire for knowledge and depth that has accompanied it from the very beginning.
Rawābit/Connections offers an unconventional look at the Arab-Islamic world, covering many different topics: from history to religion, from art to music, from traditions to culture, from crafts to small curiosities.
Each topic is an opportunity to discover something new, to explore often little-known aspects and to question preconceived ideas.
It is not just about describing a world, but about understanding its complexity, recognizing its connections with our own history and our present.
The Arabic word Rawābit (روابط) means bonds, connections.
This is the common thread of the project: building bridges through knowledge, linking cultures and traditions, sparking curiosity and encouraging dialogue. Because knowing is the first step to overcoming distances, mistrust and stereotypes.
All Rawābit/Connections episodes are available on Spotify. You can listen to the podcast and follow the journey through all its topics.
Rawābit/Connections is also a space open to discussion. I am always happy to receive thoughts, questions, suggestions and ideas for topics to explore.
